What Our Clients Say
EXCELLENT Based on 98 reviews Iris T2025-07-18Verified Beklimming Mount Meru What a wonderful experience! We had the best crew you could imagine! Fundi; the cook, who prepared delicious food on the mountain and served us at our beck and call with a humorous twist🤭, Suma, our head guide who spoke perfect English and encouraged us, Tadiq and Abdulkarim; for them nothing was too much...encouragement, taking over backpack, helping on difficult piece, bringing tea in the morning,...and then the porters who carried the heavy luggage up and down the mountain for us. We were also very well briefed by Allan and Coosje of what to expect and take away! So great experience with the best team ever⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trung L2025-06-30Verified Good Safari experience! We went in June, during the winter/dry season in Tanzania. Ours was a private tour, with one day in Tarangire, four days in the Serengeti, and one day in Arusha. The weather was quite extreme: daytime temperatures reached 30°C, but in the evenings, it dropped sharply to around 10°C.Tarangire and Ngorongoro were amazing, but Serengeti was absolutely the one. The weather was mostly sunny and breezy, with almost no rain, perfect for wildlife viewing. However, it was pretty dusty, so we highly recommend bringing masks. The parks were fairly crowded, but it didn’t affect our experience at all, as they’re vast with no traffic jams or congestion. We witnessed many unforgettable moments: breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, plenty of lions, a migration of zebras and wildebeest in northern Serengeti, and close-up sightings of cheetahs and leopards, among others. One big difference in Serengeti, compared even to parks we visited in South Africa, is the vast open field so it makes spotting animals much easier. We suggest saving Serengeti for last; it truly delivers.Another memorable aspect was the Maasai. On the way in and out of Serengeti and Ngorongoro, we saw herds of cows and donkeys, usually led by Maasai children. Their colorful traditional clothing really caught our attention. Their handmade jewelry, found at nearly every souvenir spot, is incredibly beautiful and intricate. We’re especially grateful to our guide, Charles. He was knowledgeable and extremely skilled at spotting animals, we got close to leopards twice! His driving skills were solid, even on the roughest roads. The tour generously provided water throughout the trip. One thing to note: most of the roads in the conservation areas and national parks are unpaved. We spent 7–8 hours a day on really bumpy roads, like constant-bumpiness bumpy. We stayed mostly in lodges, changing accommodation almost daily as we moved through different parts of the Serengeti. Most places were comfortable, with mosquito nets and hot showers. Clean toilets with toilet gun were a huge plus. What impressed us most was the service, everyone was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. The hospitality left a lasting impression. Some lodges inside the Serengeti were beautifully located, and we even woke up at night to lions roaring, an unforgettable (but safe) experience, as confirmed by the lodge managers.Food-wise, we feel there’s room for improvement. While the meals were well prepared with packed lunches for game drives and buffet style breakfasts and dinners most didn’t quite satisfy our appetite. That said, the portions were more than enough, and the packed lunches included fruit, snacks, and drinks. There were options for vegetarians as well. We appreciated the variety of teas and coffee machines.A few practical tips: bring your own torch (the ones provided are often too dim), and note that lodges don’t usually offer hairdryers or heaters, so pack accordingly or ask for extra blankets if needed. Our trip ended with a stay at Our Stay Mlima, where we had the best local food of the whole journey. It really saved the food experience for us.The booking process was decent, though communication could be improved. Some changes were not communicated in advance, which was a bit inconvenient. That said, the team behind the tour is young, passionate, and experienced. They fully met our special requests, which we truly appreciated. Our day in Arusha was fairly ordinary, but gave us a glimpse into everyday Tanzanian life. We visited an art gallery and took a 2 hour canoe trip on Lake Duluti, which turned out to be the highlight. The lake was calm and peaceful, with birds and monkeys all around, and we even caught views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. In the town, life seemed bustling, with small kiosks everywhere. The local market opens on Wednesdays and Sundays. What moved us the most was how seriously Tanzania takes conservation. Almost everything in the parks is left untouched. In all picnic areas, signs read “trash in - trash out,” and people really follow it. We deeply appreciated that. We didn’t expect to see so many animals, some are known to be shy or hard to spot, but what we saw was absolutely breathtaking. Some things truly can't be captured on camera. It was like living inside a National Geographic episode. This tour is ideal for almost everyone, though the bumpy roads might be a concern for some. A good lens and binoculars are recommended (but not essential). We’ll definitely be back. Emily W2025-06-19Verified Best Safari Experience We had an amazing safari with Somewhere In Africa. Together with our 14-year-old son we experienced a truly magical safari with Somewhere in Africa and our fantastic guide Chaz! From the first moment it felt familiar: Chaz was not only extremely knowledgeable and quiet, but also a very nice and safe driver. We travelled through breathtaking natural parks such as Tarangire, the majestic Ngorongoro Crater and the endless plains of the Serengeti. And how lucky: we have seen the full Big 5, and often even up close! An experience we will never forget. The overnight stays were all unforgettable, with the absolute highlight being the stay at the luxurious Four Seasons Camp in the Serengeti. Everything was arranged to perfection. Thanks to Chaz, every ride, every encounter with animals and every view became even more special. With our guide Kevin we had the most amazing time of our lives! He introduced himself to us on day 1 and from that moment on he tried so hard for us. We visited a coffee plantation, went to the Art Gallery, he took us to a school, we did a cooking workshop, we went swimming in the hotspings and he showed us Arusha and much more. Everything was well arranged and we really saw a lot. Highly recommended!! nicoline z2025-04-11Verified Relax and enjoy! Great safari, 5 days camping. Seen the big 5. Great guide who explained everything about the animals and the people we met. Tell them your whishes and they will make a plan for you. Small local organisation with a lot of experience. Stayed at tanzania safari lodge and Mlima lodge. Both are great. Nice view, good staff and good food and drinks. Robin B2025-04-02Verified Great experience! The safari was very well arranged! The days are not fully planned but that is nice because you can rest in between and it really feels like a holiday! MickCoosje2025-03-30Verified Top experience. Our trip to Tanzania, organized by Somewhere in Africa, was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the first contact with the team we felt well prepared and supported. The communication was clear and fast, which immediately reassured us.Upon arrival in Tanzania we were warmly welcomed by our guide, who accompanied us throughout the trip. He was not only knowledgeable, but also passionate about the nature and culture of Tanzania. His stories about the local traditions and life in the different regions made the journey even more fascinating. The safari in the Serengeti National Park was definitely the highlight of our trip. We have seen an impressive variety of wildlife, including the 'Big Five'. The accommodations were excellent, with comfortable lodges and tent camps that blended perfectly into the surroundings. Every evening we enjoyed delicious meals while surrounded by the sounds of nature.Besides the safari we also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, which was a challenging but incredible experience. The organization of the climb was perfect, with experienced guides and a good team of porters who made sure we could climb safely and comfortably. The cultural experiences in towns and cities were also a highlight. We visited local markets, tasted traditional meals and even participated in a dance workshop, which gave us a deeper connection to the country. All in all, our trip to Tanzania with Somewhere in Africa was a dream come true. The combination of nature, adventure and culture made it a unique experience. We can warmly recommend this organization to anyone who wants to make an unforgettable trip to Africa!
